Aron D. Rovner, M.D.

Dr. Aron D. Rovner is a highly respected orthopedic surgeon serving the greater New York City area. Patients come from around the world seek his expertise in treating lumbar and neck conditions as well as shoulder and knee problems. With a conservative approach to care, he avoids surgery whenever possible, and when performing surgery, mainly employs minimally invasive techniques to facilitate a quick recovery.

Believing that knowledgeable patients can make the best decisions about their own treatments, Dr. Rovner goes to great lengths in explaining treatment options and each step of therapy. He works with patients to develop a highly personalized treatment plan that best suits lifestyle and healthcare needs. Although renowned for his surgical skill, Dr. Rovner sees surgery as a last resort, and may begin treatment with non-invasive modalities such as physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medications.

Dr. Rovner is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with a specialty in adult and pediatric spinal surgery. He has undergone extensive training in advanced surgical procedures such as microdiscectomies, cervical fusion, balloon kyphoplasties, and disc replacement. He is one of a select group of surgeons qualified to perform coccygectomies, or surgical tail bone removal, a very rare procedure.

 

A gifted knee and shoulder surgeon, Dr. Rovner performs a number of advanced arthroscopic procedures, such as ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, microfracture, rotator cuff repair, and subacromial decompression, among others.

 

Dr. Rovner received his BA in Biological Science and Economics from Rutgers University in 1992. He then attended medical school at SUNY Health Science Center of Brooklyn, graduating in 1996. He completed an orthopedic surgery internship and residency with Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was awarded an Adult and Pediatric Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Rovner is committed to pursuing ongoing education and to staying informed on the latest innovations in orthopedic medicine and spinal surgery. In addition to attending a variety of classes and symposiums, he has presented lectures for such esteemed organizations as the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the North American Spine Society.

 

For the last three years, Dr. Rovner has been elected as one of “America’s Top Orthopedists” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. He was given the “Patients’ Choice Award” in 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009, and has been a listed member in the global Who’s Who of Top Doctors. Dr. Rovner currently serves as the President of New York Spine and Sports Surgery, PLLC, and is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, serves as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York.
