Celiac Plexus Block

The celiac plexus is a network of nerves located in the upper part of the abdomen, along the spine under the diaphragm. Its function is to send and receive impulses and signals from abdominal organs, as well as transmitting pain signals. In some conditions the plexus can become inflamed or compressed, causing pain and debilitation. A celiac plexus block (celiac plexus neurolysis) is an injection that can block the nerves, thereby interrupting the pain signals and providing pain relief.
